Bucks and Nets Trade Players - Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons for Richard Jefferson

On the day of the 2008 NBA draft the Milwaulkee Bucks and New Jersey Nets made a pre-draft deel involoving the Bucks trading Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons for Richard Jefferson.

For the New Jersey Nets gave up there second leading scorer in franchise history and a very consistant player in Richard Jefferson. They also take his contract off the books which had three years left at 42 million dollars. The Nets get Yi Jianlian the young forward from China with a strong outside shot. Jianlian is 20 years old with lots of potential and is often compared to Nowitski in Dallas. The Nets also get Bobby Simmons who was a major disapointment with the Bucks and has two years remaining at 20 million dollars left on his contract. A change in scenery might do Simmons good after he never meshed with the Bucks roster.

The Milwaulkee Bucks get a very good player in Richard Jefferson and a much clearer starting rotation for next year. Yi Jianlian competed with Charlie Villanueva last year for starting time and Villanueva seemed like a better fit with the other Bucks players. This might be the start of house cleaning by new Bucks GM John Hammond or it could be the last major move as they appear to now have a decent starting rotation with Redd, Williams, Bogut, Jefferson, and Villanueva. If there is another move looke for Redd or Williams to get moved as they do not compliment each other as good as they could.
